Wed, Apr 3, 2024Replit Developer Day recap
On April 2nd, we hosted our second annual Developer Day live from San Francisco. We announced our biggest evolution yet – we’re making the power of Replit available for teams. Here’s the full recap. Our mission Replit’s mission is to empower the next billion software creators. We are at an incredibly unique time in history, where for the first time, anyone with basic access to a computer and the internet can learn skills that can fundamentally change their lives. This kind of wealth creation opportunity has not existed before. Soon, what it means to be a software developer is going to look radically different than it does today. Replit is not just for hackers and engineers; we also want to empower builders of all kinds: artists, scientists, and citizen developers. If you have an idea, you should be able to build it and ship it. Empowerment is at the heart of our mission.
Fri, Dec 1, 2023Advent of Code on Replit
It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Advent of Code! Advent of Code is a month-long programming challenge with a new daily puzzle you can solve in any programming language. For many, Advent of Code is an excuse to learn a new programming language or practice a familiar one. No matter what programming language you choose to tackle the puzzles in, Replit is the easiest way to run your code. Here’s your guide to using Replit for AoC. Why choose Replit for Advent of Code Replit requires no installation or setup to get started with any language. Just select the language template and start coding directly in your browser. It supports most languages, from Python to Haskell, and even esoteric ones like LOLCODE. Execute your code using the Run button, or the built-in Shell. When you’re finished writing your code, check the output of your program quickly in the Console. If you get stuck, you can use the Multiplayer feature to share your code with a friend and ask for help.

The Replit x Weights & Biases Machine Learning Hackathon was Replit’s very first machine learning-focused hackathon that took place on February 4-11, 2023 with participants selected from all over the world! After applying and being accepted into the hackathon, participants hacked for seven days on their projects, using both custom machine learning models and fine-tuning existing ones, all by combining the power of Weights & Biases and Replit. During the hackathon, builders collaborated and got help from mentors on our Discord (shout out to Morgan and Ayush!), worked through examples and demos from the opening ceremony and our list of resources, and even documented their journeys using W&B Reports. In the end, we gave away over 500,000 Cycles worth of prizes to the best projects created by combining the two technologies. Expert ML engineers from Weights & Biases judged each project to decide the ultimate winners: And the winners are...
Wed, Jan 25, 2023It's Genuary!
You may have thought that we're in the month of January, but we're actually in the month of Genuary! Genuary "is an artificially generated month of time where we build code that makes beautiful things." If you've been a part of the Replit community for a little while, you may remember Replit Creates, our very own month-long celebration of creative coding that happened in August. We don't think making beautiful things should be confined to one month, so we've decided to host a celebration of Genuary on Replit. On the official Genuary website, there are prompts for each day of the month, so we're also celebrating on Replit! Our Replit staff have made it even easier for you to participate by creating templates for some of the prompts, which you can find below.

In the end, we received over 190 awesome submissions this year, battling to win the grand prize! But only one could beat the heat. Our judges (PolyMars, CodeWithHarry Metal and Coffee, Ania Kubow, MindJoy, Tiga Wu, Lee Fleming, Vimlark) carefully reviewed each game to decide the ultimate spicy winners… This year’s winners: Most Creative - SpicyBoyTimeToShine

Thu, Dec 23, 20212021 Kajam Winners
Kajam Winners It was a dark room with mystique and seriousness that accompanied the feverous whispers. Seven people stood in the room, held down only by the weight of responsibility they carried with them. One by one they were handed a link to a website- what they would find they did not know. And one by one the links were opened. Colors and music filled the empty air. Excitement gleamed in each of their eyes, their fingers danced across the keyboard, their mouse moved sporadically as though if it stayed still for too long they would surely meet their doom. And yet after another moment, the link was closed, and the display subsided. Each individual scribbled something down, and the cycle repeated four hundred times. After days of deliberation, the people consulted each other and wrote one final list. The list was placed in a red envelope, stamped with a wax seal of the Replit logo. The doors to the darkroom opened, and the individuals left. Leaving the letter behind. Today we will enter that room and open the red envelope, to announce the winners of the 2021 Kajam Game Jam! What was Kajam? Starting October 18th, the Kajam game jam began. On October 25th, Kajam ended. During that time, people rushed to create a game relating to the theme "HUGE". People could interpret that however, they wanted- and we certainly had a lot of unique interpretations. Our seven judges voted on the submissions for each of the seven awards that we had. Most Creative, Best Story, Most Polished, Most Hilarious, Most Theme-fitting, Best Kaboom Game, and of course the grand prize Most Fun. All the categories were worth $1,000, except for the grand prize. The grand prize was worth a whopping $10,000 U.S. dollars.
