Two Revolutionary AI Tools
Replit Agent is our flagship tool for bringing ideas to life. It excels at taking you from zero to a working application, making software creation accessible to everyone — whether you're a seasoned developer or completely non-technical. This isn’t auto-complete for AI coding, this is true end-to-end software creation just by having a conversation in natural language with the Agent.
The Agent now features enhanced visual capabilities using React, allowing you to create more polished and responsive applications. Simply share a screenshot or URL of any design that inspires you, and watch as Agent builds it for you.
Today we also launched the new Replit Assistant, your AI partner for refining existing projects. If the Agent takes you 0 to 1, the Assistant takes you 1 to 10. It enables seamless iterations and quick updates without disrupting your workflow. Gone are the days of copying and pasting code — just describe what you need, and the Assistant will make the change directly.
Unlimited Usage & Transparent Billing
We have also released the ability for users to have unlimited use of the Agent, with built-in monthly credits that transition to pay-as-you-go for Agent “checkpoints” after the monthly credits are exhausted. Many people will never need to pay a dollar more than the monthly subscription cost when using the Agent, but power users will find the costs of the Agent align closely with the value they’re receiving in its output and productivity.
Finding the Right Usage Metric
We considered multiple approaches for the pay-as-you-go model:
- Tokens: these are the bite-sized pieces of information AIs use to think and respond. While technically precise, token-based billing doesn't always reflect the actual value you get. Think of when an AI spends lots of time "thinking" internally before giving you a short answer — charging for all that behind-the-scenes processing feels unfair.
- Messages: while many AI companies charge per message, this can lead to users cramming everything into fewer, longer messages to save money. This isn't ideal for either the AI or the user, especially for complex tasks that naturally need back-and-forth dialogue.
- Checkpoints: The sweet spot we landed on
Why Checkpoints?
We chose checkpoints because they represent meaningful progress in your development journey. Each checkpoint is a tangible piece of work the Agent has completed — whether that's generating a new component or implementing a feature.
We're further removing the barriers to creativity with our new unlimited usage model. Your Core subscription now includes $25 in monthly credits ($40 per user for Teams), which you can use for Agent checkpoints and other Replit services:
- 100 Agent checkpoints per month
- 500 Assistant edit requests per month
